This Dinit based ISO ships with Dinit 0.22.0, Turnstile 0.1.11 and Seatd 0.9.3 as the new init system and service manager and has a size of 4.3 GiB.
- KDE Applications 26.04.2 are included, as are Linux kernel 7.0.11 (Linux-next is in the repo’s, following the 7.0 series), GCC 15.2.1, Glibc 2.41, Niri 26.04, Noctalia v5-Alpha, Kmod 34, Xorg-server 21.1.23, Qt 6.11.1, Mesa 26.1.2, Calligra, LibreOffice 26.2.4, Elisa and the latest versions of Falkon, Octopi, & Neochat.
- For those wondering about gtk apps, Firefox 151, Chrome 151, Thunderbird 151, GIMP 3.2.4, Ardour 9.0.7 are among the available in their latest version.
- Media Creation. To create reliable Media for booting the Live ISO, please read Create Install Media and follow the instructions for either using a USB flash drive or DVD disc. Though UEFI booting is supported, Secure Boot is not at this time. See this link for more on Secure Boot.
- Authenticity check. It is advised to check the integrity of the downloaded ISO by comparing SHA256Sum and to check the authenticity through the signature of the ISO.
- Known issues.
- Installing on RAID is currently not possible.
- For BIOS installs, XFS filesystem is not an option, GRUB fails to install with latest XFS
- VirtualBox ONLY supports Wayland when 3d is enabled, thus only VMSVGA can be used
- Polkit is not fully ported to Turnstile/seatd yet, so some privelage escalations options will not work.

Using GnuPG to verify the ISO signature
Besides checking the integrity of the downloaded ISO, it is advised to also check the authenticity through the signature of the ISO. For this download the KaOS Signing Key. Add this key to your keyring:
$ gpg --import KaOS.asc Next download the ISO GPG Signature to the same directory as where you downloaded the ISO and verify with (adjust for correct year and date):
$ gpg --verify KaOS-2026.06-x86_64.iso.sig
